Before you start

You will need

Electric beaters or a wooden spoon
Contains or may contain: Glutine, Uova, Latte.

Method

Cream the butter and sugar

Beat the softened butter with the sugar until creamy.

Add the eggs

Add the eggs one at a time, incorporating them well, then add the Marsala and lemon zest.

Add the flour

Add the flour sifted with the baking powder and a pinch of salt, mixing gently.

Put in the oven

Pour the mixture into a buttered and floured cake tin, smoothing the surface.

Bake

Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C for about 40 minutes, checking with a skewer.

Serve

Leave to cool, dust with icing sugar and serve.

Tips

Cream the butter and sugar well for a soft, airy texture.

Variations

It can also be flavoured with orange zest instead of lemon.

Storage

Keeps at room temperature, under a glass cake dome, for 3-4 days.
